John Player Special Keyring

A vintage John Player Special keyring in black and gold, with the JPS monogram set into a rectangular enamelled fob and finished with a substantial chain and screw-lock carabiner.

The connection to motorsport is immediate. John Player Special became synonymous with Team Lotus, whose iconic black-and-gold Formula 1 livery was introduced in the early 1970s. The scheme became one of the defining visual identities of the era, appearing on some of Lotus' most significant racing cars, including the Type 72 and Type 79.

This keyring captures that same understated black-and-gold aesthetic in a small piece of period automobilia. The fob is double-sided, with the JPS monogram present on both faces. The original gold finish has worn considerably with age and use, particularly around the edges and hardware, giving it an authentic patina rather than a pristine reproduction appearance.

Condition
