Vintage Agip Six-Legged Dog Ashtray

A great piece of Italian petrol station ephemera featuring Agip's iconic six-legged dog.

This vintage ceramic ashtray carries the distinctive black and red Agip emblem, with the inscription on the reverse: “Cane a sei zampe, fedele amico dell'uomo a quattro ruote” — the six-legged dog, faithful friend of man on four wheels.

The six-legged dog was created for Agip in the early 1950s and became one of the most recognisable symbols of post-war Italian motoring. Its six legs are traditionally associated with the four wheels of the car and the two legs of its driver.

A small but brilliant piece of Italian automobilia — equally good as a functioning ashtray, desk object or display piece.

Condition - Good vintage condition with signs of age and previous use. There are minor marks and surface wear consistent with its age. Please refer to the photographs for the condition of this individual piece.
