Alfa Romeo GTA 1300 Junior — Campione del Belgio Turismo ’71, Original 1971 Poster

An original 1971 Italian racing poster celebrating the Alfa Romeo GTA 1300 Junior and its success in Belgian touring-car competition.

Printed in Italy by A. Fattorini, the poster is an outstanding example of the bold graphic language of early-1970s Italian motorsport advertising. A vivid blue field frames a stylised red GTA 1300 Junior, with the typography announcing:

“CAMPIONE DEL BELGIO — CONDUTTORI TURISMO ’71 — ALFA ROMEO GTA 1300 JUNIOR.”

The GTA 1300 Junior was one of Alfa Romeo's great competition cars of the period. Developed by Alfa Romeo's racing department, Autodelta, the competition version combined the lightweight GTA body with a highly developed 1.3-litre engine. By 1971, mechanical fuel injection had increased competition-specification output to around 165 hp, while the car's light weight and handling made it exceptionally effective in touring-car racing.

The GTA 1300 Junior went on to win the European Touring Car Championship Division 1 title in 1971, alongside a remarkable series of class victories across European circuits. Its competition career included major results at Spa-Francorchamps, Monza, the Nürburgring, Zandvoort and Silverstone.

The poster itself is particularly interesting because it is the Belgian version, rather than the more commonly encountered Campione d’Italia Turismo Speciale ’71 version of the same A. Fattorini graphic. Specialist poster records identify the original Fattorini production as a 1971 Italian offset/lithographic poster, approximately 97 × 65 cm.

This example retains its original period character, including visible paper ageing, creasing and surface wear. Professionally framed in a black timber frame with a white mount, it makes a particularly strong piece of period Alfa Romeo automobilia.
